Множество, между элементами которого определены некоторые соотношения, аналогичные обычным пространственным соотношениям. Множество всех n-мерных точек составляет n-мерное прoстранство Rn. Например, точки M (2; -8; 24) и N (4;6;-0,5) — точки 3-мерного пространства R3, то есть M ? R3, N ? R3. В экономико-математических исследованиях в большинстве случаев используются метрические пространства. Одно из них — Евклидово П. (обозначается En или En). Метрическое пространство — такое, в котором между элементами множества определены расстояния — например, величина d (x, y) называется расстоянием между x и y. Евклидово n-мерное П., соответственно, является метрическим пространством с евклидовым расстоянием между точками x = (x1, x2, …, xn) и y = (y1, y2, …, yn): d(x,y) = ?(xj — yj)2 Выделим еще два понятия метрического пространства: окрестность точки и граничная точка. e-окрестностью точки x называется множество точек, расстояния от которых до x меньше некоторого заданного положительного числа e. В пространстве Е2 с евклидовой метрикой e-окрестность представляет собой внутреннюю часть круга радиуса e с центром в точке x. Точка x некоторого подмножества A метрического пространства является граничной точкой этого подмножества, если любая окрестность x содержит хотя бы одну точку из A и одну точку, не принадлежащую A. Множество всех граничных точек A называется границей А. См.
